Kumusanza is a weather information platform providing accurate and reliable forecasts for Southern Province, Zambia, and other regions around the world. Created as part of a school project by Chisanga Mwaba, a Bachelor of Science student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kumusanza demonstrates the application of web development skills to address real-world challenges.

Our mission is to provide timely, accurate, and user-friendly weather updates, empowering individuals, farmers, travelers, and decision-makers to plan and make informed choices based on reliable weather data.

About the Founder

Chisanga Mwaba is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. With a passion for web development and technology's potential to improve lives, Chisanga developed Kumusanza to showcase how technology can solve day to day problems, specifically in weather information access for the people of Southern Zambia.

How to Use Kumusanza

Getting Started

Welcome to Kumusanza, Southern Zambia Weather Hub! Here, you can view real-time weather updates and forecasts for Southern Province, Zambia, and any city around the world. Use the navigation menu to explore the platform's features and functionalities.

Main Features

Search for Weather: Enter a city name in the search box and click "Get Weather" to view the current weather conditions for that city.
5-Day Forecast: View a detailed 5-day forecast, updated every 3 hours, to help you plan ahead.
Favourites: Save your preferred cities by clicking "Add to Favorites." Access them anytime from the "Favourites" section in the menu.
Change Units: Switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit for temperature, as well as m/s and MPH for wind speed, using the "Change Units" option in the menu.
Languages: Change the platform language to English, French, or Japanese via the "Languages" menu.
Interactive Map: Explore real-time weather conditions with the integrated interactive weather map.
Feedback: Share your suggestions, report issues, or provide feedback using the "Feedback" form at the bottom of the page.
Dynamic Background: Experience weather-adaptive backgrounds that enhance the visual appeal based on current conditions.
Reset Preferences: Use the "Reset All Preferences" button to restore default settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is the weather updated? Weather data is updated every 3 hours for the forecast and every hour for real-time conditions.

Can I set a default city? Yes, you can! To do so, navigate to the "Cities" option in the dropdown menu located in the top left corner. From there, you can select your preferred city from the provided list and set it as your default. Please note that only cities from the Southern Province of Zambia are included in the list.

Where does the weather data come from? We use the OpenWeatherMap API for accurate and reliable weather information.

Where do the background images come from? The dynamic background images are sourced from Pexels, Unsplash, and Freepik.
